UFC has nine fights ‘televised’ at UFC 128, but where is Joe B?
The UFC began to fold in the roster of the WEC back in December. UFC 128 may be the first event where we really see the impact of adding all those fighters from the 135 and 145 pound divisions.
It's so deep that even with nine fights officially scheduled for viewing on Facebook, Spike and pay-per-view, Joseph Benavidez's fight against Ian Loveland may be unavailable to the masses. The No. 2 bantamweight in the world according to the USA Today/Bloody Elbow rankings was even passed over on Facebook for the Kurt Pellegrino-Gleison Tibau and Ricardo Almeida-Mike Pyle fights.
The slight snub has given Benavidez (on the right) extra motivation to get the win and score an impressive finish.
"I'm not scheduled to be on TV, but I'm going to be on TV. I'm going to finish this guy. That's one of the differences. We're both finishers. The only difference is he also gets finished," Benavidez told Sherdog. "That's what I'm looking to do. I think that was a strategic move by the UFC. Not to put me on TV knowing they could cheat the system and get me on TV when I get the finish. That's how I'm looking at it."
Eight former WEC fighters are featured on the card.

DREAM Featherweight Champion Hiroyuki Takaya to fight on "Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley" preliminary card on April 9
Takaya will return to the United States for the first time since a stint with the WEC in 2008. Though he lost both fights in the WEC, he earned a "Fight of the Night" bonus for his three round bout with Cub Swanson.
Since that loss he's gone 6-2 in his last eight fights, losing to Bibiano Fernandes by split decision in the 2009 DREAM Featherweight Grand Prix and Michihiro Omigawa in the 2009 New Year's Eve event. He's won three straight fights, most recently defeating Fernandes for the title in a rematch of their 2009 Grand Prix final.
Peralta has won six straight fights heading into his Strikeforce debut, fighting in California's Gladiator Challenger promotion. He brings a 13-3 record with him overall.
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley airs live on Showtime from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on April 9.

Judge Judy Falls Ill, Rushed to Hospital
She?s one tough cookie in the courtroom, but apparently Judge Judy Sheindlin couldn't overcome her health woes as she was rushed to the hospital earlier today (March 30).
According to reports, the ?Judge Judy? arbitrator was in her studio when she fell ill and was in need of medical attention.
On-hand sources said the TV judge had been complaining of ?intestinal discomfort.?

ROUNDTABLE: Where is Phil Davis' place in the light heavyweight division after his UFC Fight Night 24 win over "Lil Nog"? Hansen, Hobaugh, Hyden, Bacior, Perez, Williams and Penick
RICH HANSEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
Davis is a notch ahead of Nog, right in there with Bader. He's not elite yet, and I think his fight with Nogueira should stop people from calling for Jones - Davis anytime soon. I think a Davis - Griffin fight makes sense for both Davis and Griffin.
ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Phil Davis is in the top fifteen for sure. Nogueira is the first fighter he has faced in the top ten. He needs a solid win over another top ten fighter to himself be considered a top ten fighter. Even with his perfect record, five straight wins in the UFC, and wins over Tim Boetsch, Brian Stann, and now Nogueirahe is not yet in the top ten.
FRANK HYDEN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Well, I think that Davis has a lot of potential and deserves a step up in competition. Beating Nogueira is a nice feather in his cap, but he has a long way to go if he wants to compete with the best in the division. That will come with time, though. The next guy I'd put him in there with is Ryan Bader. The best way to accelerate a guy's learning curve is to throw him into the deep end. You don't do that right away, but you put him in there against Bader. Then, if he wins, you put him up against a Lyoto Machida or Quinton Jackson, and you get a real sense of where he's at. A match against Forrest Griffin or Rich Franklin would be okay, but I don't think that would really get Davis anywhere.
MIKE BACIOR, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Well, my measuring stick is that I think he did better against Lil Nog then Ryan Bader did. So I would have him slightly above Bader, who is probably Top 12 or 13. I think he could give some of the bigger names fit, but he needs to get his striking more technically sound in order to become a true force in the division and break into the Top 10.
ANWAR PEREZ, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
I don't place Phil Davis too high in the division at all. Yes, he did step up to face a veteran like Rogerio Nogueira on short notice, and defeated him, but he's just another fighter to me. A true test would be a definitive top 10 fighter, even someone like Forrest Griffin or Rich Franklin, or if the UFC really wants to fast track Davis, a fight against Shogun Rua. Either way, he just needs to do what he can, keep improving, and then by the end of the year, he could become a top 10, if not top five, fighter in the division.
ALEX WILLIAMS, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Phil Davis' win over Minotoro didn't do much for me. In fact, for those, like me, who predicted he might provide a challenge to Jon Jones at some point, this victory showed that he has a long ways to go before a Jones fight would be competitive. He's not a Top 10 fighter yet.
JAMIE PENICK, MMATORCH EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Expectations for Davis heading into the Nogueira fight last weekend were too high. Nogueira is a very good fighter, and he's been a difficult challenge for a lot of people, and even in his losses for the most part he hasn't been dominated. Davis was as successful if not more than Bader against Nogueira, and that's a great win on his record. That said, he's got improving to do. He's still growing and developing as a fighter, and he'd be the first to admit as much. He has the potential to be one of the top fighters in the division, but his whole game hasn't come around to that point just yet. With the win over Nogueira he's absolutely a top 15 guy, perhaps fringe top 10, but he needs to continue improving and developing before he gets thrust into the deep waters of the light heavyweight division. He doesn't need to be fast tracked. There's time to bring him along the right way and to allow him to get better fundamentally so that when he gets to the top end of the 205 lb. division he's fully prepared.

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers
'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

Barnett needs to take care of business before Ratner and UFC let him fight in June
One of the major unresolved issues from the UFC purchase of Strikeforce is the status of Josh Barnett in the heavyweight Grand Prix. The rumor flying around UFC 128 was that Shane Carwin would be inserted into the tourney and Barnett would be removed.
Barnett presents a headache to both Strikeforce and its new parent company Zuffa because he's still not officially licensed to fight in the U.S. Barnett refuses to cooperate with California, the state that originally handed down the suspension because of a positive test back in July of 2009. He served a year penalty, but still hasn't shown his face before the California commission. The hearing has been delayed four times and Barnett no-showed a hearing on Feb. 22.
Yahoo!'s lead MMA writer Kevin Iole joined ESPN1100 in Las Vegas to tell us how the UFC is likely to handle Barnett's licensing situation. Iole suggested that Barnett is going to run into trouble with Marc Ratner and UFC brass if he doesn't go through the proper to steps to get re-licensed.

Dan Hardy wants a brawl with Chris Lytle following UFC Fight Night 24 loss; Lytle says "let's do it!"
"Feeling very frustrated today. No excuses, sometimes you just dont win. I hate having boring fights though," Hardy wrote. "I want to fight again. I feel like I've been robbed of the reward at the end of training camp."
Hardy continued, saying he wanted "an oldschool shootout with a guy that wants to throw down."
"Screw the rankings, records are for DJs," he said. "Win in a blaze of glory or go out on my shield. Someone like Mr. Lytle."
Lytle was knocked off of his track towards a title shot in February when he accepted a fight against late replacement Brian Ebersole at UFC 127. Coming in as the overwhelming favorite, Lytle was beaten by the debuting Ebersole, and took some punishment in the process. However, hearing Hardy's desire to fight him, Lytle says he's game.
"I think it would be awesome," Lytle told Duane Finley at BloodyElbow.com. I know exactly how he feels. He wants to go out there and fight. Just get out there and bang. He didn't get to do that in his last fight and I'm all about it. Let's do it!"
Penick's Analysis: This would probably be the perfect fight for both fighters. Lytle's taken a ton of punishment throughout his career, but he's always game to go out and have the type of fight that Hardy wants to have. Hardy hasn't fared well against wrestlers in the division, and that is his glaring weakness, but Lytle, despite what would be a significant ground advantage, would likely oblige Hardy in the stand up war he so desperately craves. It could be a highly entertaining slug fest with one of the two finding themselves outside of the UFC at the end of the night.

UFC's Thiago Silva admits use of "urine adulterant," will accept NSAC punishment
In an era in which professional athletes have gone so far as to lie under oath in regard to their use of performance-enhancing substances, Silva is taking the exact opposite approach.
In a statement delivered to MMAjunkie.com, Silva admits he cheated for his UFC 125 matchup with Brandon Vera, and he'll accept whatever punishment the NSAC recommends. After that, the Brazilian said he'll come back a changed man.
